How to add an M3U playlist on Apple TV
By Fjord Player · Updated 8 September 2026
Fjord Player is a free Apple TV app that organises your own M3U or M3U8 playlist into live TV, films and series. You need an Apple TV running tvOS 17 or later and a working playlist URL from your authorised source.
What you need
An M3U playlist is a list of stream addresses. Your provider may give you a link ending in .m3u or a longer address containing get.php. Keep the complete link, including its parameters. A link ending in .m3u8 can also point to just one HLS stream rather than a full channel library.
Add your playlist
- Open the App Store on your Apple TV, search for Fjord IPTV Player and install it.
- Open Fjord. Choose Add M3U playlist on the welcome screen, or find that action under Settings > Playlists.
- Give the playlist a name you recognise and enter the complete playlist URL supplied by your source. Keep the original
http://orhttps://and any port number. - Save the playlist and let Fjord load it. Large libraries can take longer to arrive.
- Open Live TV, Movies or Shows to browse the content in your source.
If the playlist does not load
- Check the whole address. A missing character, copied space or truncated password can stop a valid playlist from loading.
- Check access. Your provider account must be active. A provider can also limit how many devices connect at once.
- Check what the link contains. An account website or payment page is not a playlist. A single-stream M3U8 link will not supply a whole catalogue.
- Try Xtream if your provider supplies it. A separate server address, username and password can provide richer series information. Follow the Xtream setup guide.
Why is the TV guide empty?
A channel list and a programme guide are separate data. The guide needs schedule information from your source, and the channel identifiers need to match. The player cannot fill in missing schedules on its own.
Keep your playlist private
A playlist URL can contain your username and password. Do not post it in a review or send it with a support request. If you need Fjord support, send your app version, source type and the action that failed.
Fjord does not supply or recommend IPTV subscriptions. Still choosing an app? See our comparison of free and paid Apple TV players.
