Privacy Policy

Fjord Player is a video player for playlists and streaming accounts you provide yourself. It has no accounts of its own, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking of any kind.

What the app stores

Everything the app saves stays on your device, in the app's own local storage:

None of this is transmitted to the developer or to any third party. It is removed when you delete the app.

From version 1.8, "Sync with my other devices" (in Settings) also stores the same information in your own iCloud account, so that your playlists and where you got to are shared between your iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. It is on by default when the app is first installed. On a device that was already using an earlier version, it stays off until you turn it on there. It includes the username and password of any provider account you have added. It is stored by Apple under your Apple Account and is not visible to the developer. You can turn it off at any time in Settings, and syncing stops as soon as you do.

Network connections the app makes

The app talks to these servers, and no others:

  1. Your own IPTV provider, to load the playlists, TV guide and video streams you configured. What that provider logs is governed by the provider's own privacy policy.
  2. The Movie Database (TMDb, themoviedb.org), to fetch artwork and descriptions for movies and shows. Only the title of the item you open (for example a show name) is sent; nothing identifies you personally. See TMDb's privacy policy at themoviedb.org/privacy-policy.
  3. TMDb's image server (image.tmdb.org), to download the artwork itself.
  4. TheIntroDB (api.theintrodb.org), to look up where an episode's intro and end credits begin, which is what the "Skip intro" and "Next episode" prompts are based on. What is sent is the episode's public catalogue numbers: a TMDb id, a season number and an episode number. No account, device or user identifier is sent, and the app contacts them not at all if you turn skip prompts off in Settings > Playback.
  5. Whichever server your playlist names for artwork. A playlist can give each channel a logo or poster URL, and the app loads it from wherever that URL points. Those addresses come from your provider, not from us.
  6. Apple's iCloud, while "Sync with my other devices" is on, to keep the information described above in your own iCloud account. Apple runs this service under your Apple Account; the developer has no access to it.

There are no other connections. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs.

Your content, your responsibility

Fjord Player ships with no channels, movies or shows. It only plays content from sources you add yourself. You are responsible for having the right to view the content your playlists provide.
